MY STORY
Hi there future collaborator, thanks for stopping by!
I am told that there is a fine line between education & entertainment. Infotainment. I try to walk that line finely. I'm a passionate Medical Educator, Science Communicator, STEMM-inist, Scientist, Researcher and Digital Education & Technology Innovation Enthusiast (ie. an Eduvenger). I am also an avid YouTuber. I work at the University of Melbourne, where I also completed my Master of Biomedical Science and Doctor of Philosophy. While my area of specialisation is cancer, I like to call myself a Master of None. As a Science Communicator, it is important to be able to communicate all sciences, but more than that, to be able to explain any concept, to any audience.
Science in Motion was a concept that came about through my love of film, animation and the belief that education should be an experience that is able to transport viewers into that world and tell a story that is relatable. I believe that science should be shown as it occurs in the world around us - multi-dimensionally. My love for education stemmed from my first lecture theatre lesson in undergrad. That realisation that it was nothing like the movies, understanding that there was an opportunity to embrace various technological advances to enhance the traditional methods of teaching and wanting to be a disruptor and a player in eliciting transformational change. So here I am.
I started my YouTube channel after some reflection in the wake of the pandemic. A phenomenon that arose as a result of the virus, was this paradox of 'Infodemics'. Mis-information and dis-information has been spreading much faster and far more virulently than the disease itself and it has become truly detrimental to society.
"We're not just fighting an epidemic, we're fighting an infodemic"
- Tedros Adhanom (WHO, Director General)
Science is for the public, so I believe that as a STEMM community, we have a responsibility to help in this fight against the information overload of fake news, conspiracies and distrust in the experts. I really believe that education has the ability to change perceptions and inspire people.
I am confident that I can help you create immersive, contemporary, engaging and accessible educational videos. No idea or topic (science related or other) is too big or too small, the challenge is what makes it exciting. Intrigued? Please get in touch. I would love to hear from you, understand your educational agenda and hopefully create something together that allows you to tell the stories you want to tell, through motion.
- Sincerely, Sat
